Zoey bumped into my arm, I knew it was her. I could smell her perfume, and the gentleness of her nudge. I knew it all too well. Why the woman decided to wear perfume among the apocalypse, was beyond me. She was close on my heels, and the Hunters about 5 feet back. Cowards. The crying was loud, as if right in front of me, but I could not see anyone in sight. Perhaps someone was still alive?! I urged forward. After a few steps, something caught my eye. A woman, very frail. Sitting alone in the corner of the side room. The safe room door was less than 30 feet to my left, and she was about 20 feet in front of me. Why had she not gone there?! "Hello?" I whispered.
Tank William
I lay there, alone again. She had ran past me so fast, I had no time to react. I sit upward and hear a small clinking on the ground in front of me. My finger had brushed a small vial. I placed it in my hand gently, and pulled it close to my face. Strangely enough, I could still perceive the language I had once spoken. Unable now to speak it, I could still read it. Experiment Solution L23-4-D66. What could that mean? I didn't have a clue, but it seemed familiar. Maybe it was poison? Either way, I had nothing to gain, or lose at this point. Eating the bottle whole, I crunched down onto it. The glass shards never even harmed my gums. Cursing my inept body, I spit out the empty shards. The liquid was thick. Like syrup. It had no taste, or perhaps, I could not taste anything. I had not eaten anything in so long, I was not sure... I felt myself become very dizzy. Standing up, I lean my heavy stature against a nearby wall. My eyelids become heavy. I hoped I was dying, but I felt no pain. "Maybe something else?...was..happening...." I mumbled. My body slumped the floor, and I lay there. Quiet.
Hunter Vici
My brother was doing one of his stupid smirks again. He was going to do something soon. I could tell he was bored. I sighed. If only the kid had an attention span.

It was a moment before Paul responded. And it was something I hadn't expected although I longed for it.
I saw something dark flash in his eyes. Doubt? Fear? It lasted briefly and then his green eyes locked onto mine. I waited for him to brush me off, but he tilted his head down and pressed his lips to mine. It was soft and warm. As soon as the surprise dissipated I felt shivers shoot through my body, sinking into this one simple act. One of my hands instinctively moved to his chest to rest on it.
It's such a mixture of emotions once the kiss ends. I feel my heart crawl up into my throat. My cheeks flush and I look down, not wanting him to see my thoughts. But he lifts my face up and that one act sets things in motion. I feel the tears welling up in my eyes and I try my hardest to blink them away.
It's the sad smile and his voice, soft and almost broken as he says, "Kass, we just try to forget and try to make it through."
I let the tears fall then, not caring if he sees. Paul's fingers lightly brush the tears away. He remains quiet although I don't know what to say.
"I just... I just miss them so much." My voice loses all of its strength. "They haunt my dreams and taunt me. Because as much as I will it, things will never be the same."
"No. They won't." Paul's other hand leaves my face, leaving trails of warmth behind. It's the way he looks just then that I know that he's lost everything.
"But there is still something... Right?"
"Perhaps."
His fingers still hold my chin and try as I might, I can't find the will to move away. Instead I choose to move toward, gently and softly brushing my lips against his once more. Paul remains as he is. I can tell he's slightly surprised as well by my return kiss but he reciprocates it. His hand comes to rest on my back and although the kiss doesn't deepen, I don't mind in the slightest.
It's then that we notice a recurring cough in the room. I break the kiss and look over my shoulder to see our new arrival, wide awake and watching us.

My head pulses painfully as I slowly push myself into a sitting position, my back leaning against the wall. I open my eyes, finding my vision isn't blurry anymore, and look around the room again, getting a better feel for it. My eyes stop as I see the girl and the tall guy kissing, letting out a soft cough, wondering who they are. My throat stings as I cough again, closing my eyes briefly, taking in a deep breath before opening them once more, realize that my cough had caused the girl to look at me. I shift my glance down to the floor, feeling slightly embarrassed that she had caught me watching them, moving one of my hands to scratch the back of my head before feeling the familiar sharp pain yet again. I let out a soft groan as I drop my arm back to where it was, my other hand instinctively grabbing it, wanting the pain to go away so badly. I lean my head against the wall more, closing my eyes, almost falling asleep from the lack of energy until I hear someone move towards me.
I feel a lightly touch on my shoulder, keeping my eyes close as I feel them bend down, their head even with mine. I slowly open my eyes, seeing that it's the girl, and move my glance to the wall that's on the opposite side of her, feeling untrusting and uncomfortable towards her and the other person in the room. "We're not going to harm you, we want to help," she whispers softly, keeping my glance on the wall as she lets out a sigh, her hand sliding from my shoulder further down my arm, brushing over my wounds lightly as I let out another soft groan. "How are your arms?" she says, noticing that my body slightly moved away from her touch, staying there near me for a few more moments before sighing again and standing up, turning and walking towards the tall dark-red headed figure, the lack of light surrounding them in a tinted darkness as I close my eyes once more, wishing this pain would go away yet again.

Oh, how to make this interesting? The witch sat in front of us, yet to notice, and it seemed the humans did not realise how dangerous she actually was. My brother and I had seen things like her tear a human apart in seconds, bathing in the blood only to wail more. What had her so disturbed I did not know. My smirk got wider, full of teeth as I looked towards my brother.
Zoey
I crouched when I saw her, holstering my weapon and bringing up my flashlight. It was very dark where she sat. I could only see the curves of her slender body in the darkness, but as I inched forward, her crying quieted. Her long hair shifted, and she gestured her head to look toward me, eyes still covered by hair. “Are you alright? We’re here to help.” I whispered, holding out my hand, the flashlight pointed at the ground and as I moved forward, slowly creeped near her feet. As it did and I got further down the hallway, I noticed something odd; in the darkness the walls shined. I raised my flashlight a fraction, revealing the walls, completly soaked in blood, not a white spot in sight; just shining crimson. I faltered, looked back and the woman and moved my flashlight on to her frail body. The crying turned in to a low growl, and she turned her head more towards me, slowly moving her bony body in an offensive position. Francis rushed up behind me and turned off my light, making the hall completly dark again, the only exception being the two orange eyes that starred at me, seemingly giving off their own light. Her growling lowered as Francis pulled me backward.
I felt sorrow for her. She had been infected... the orange glow giving it away. But even so, here she sat, crying... mourning...
Francis and I both had our eyes glued on the woman as she turned back away from us and wept again. But as the silent weeping returned, a sound pierced my ears. A hunter scream, wailing for blood, and as I turned my head backwards to look at the source, the one called Vici was crouched in an attack position, and Grey had his head flung backwards, screaming in that evil zombie howl. A hunters call for death... he screamed.
Betrayal.
The woman screamed in fury, and as I turned back to look at her she attacked. All I saw was the shine of Francis’ flashlight as he raised his shotgun reflect off the silver cross around her neck before he shot, hitting her frail arm, the bones showing through. She screamed and pulled up her hand, large claws protruding from her fingers, drenched in blood. Blood sprayed as he shot at her again and she stumbled backwards, and as she did Vici pounced at us. Francis pushed me to the left, toward the big red door as he deflected Vici with his arm, sending the man in to the nearby scaffolding as I scrambled up to the door. The woman screamed again, continuing to attack.
Hunter Grey
As my brother was sent flying I jumped up on a few wooden boxes, flipping my hood over my head again. The woman had managed to make it in to the red door and now screamed for her companion. I crouched and dug my nails in the wood, howled again and jumped for the burly man only to get shot down very quickly. The woman had pulled out her pistols and fired at me. I landed on top of the screaming witch, giving the man enough time to stumble back in to the red door, and slam it shut with a loud crash. I jumped off the witch as soon as I could, fearing death, and she ignored me to scramble at the steel door, clawing at it with sharp claws, screaming at the top of her lungs. I watched her from further away, growling at the failed plan. It was no fun without bloodshed. For a few minutes the woman clawed at the door, and then fled, running... crying. Off to god knows where.

My heart was pounding in my chest. I was not sure what had happened. The adrenaline was pumping in me. Zoey was on the floor breathing heavily. "Are you ok?" I asked through breaths. She nodded yes, and stood up. Brushing herself off. The door on the other side of the room had a sign on it. "Rooftop..." I read off of the sign. Smiling I grabbed Zoey in a hug. I snuggled her close, and give her a swift kiss on the cheek. Moving past her, I saw much ammo, and some pipes and Molotov's. I made sure to grab as much as I could, and passed some of it to Zoey. She quickly stuffed all of it into her bag.
I sat back down on the floor. "Should we wait for the others? It doesn't look like they've been through here.." I mumble. Taking out a bag of chips, I begin to munch. Drowning it down with a cola that I had found in the corner of the room. I looked u at her, to see that she was still breathing heavily. She looked at me. She had obviously taken quite a shock. I pat the floor beside me, and I offer her a bag of chips.
Hunter Vici No bloodshed at all. NONE. "DAMMIT!" I exclaimed. My brother had lost interest already, and was proceeding to climb across the wall, onto the ceiling, and across the opposite wall. He was going in circles. Obviously bored. As soon as he reached the ceiling for the third time, I spoke. "Are you done yet?!" I mutter, quite annoyed. He shook his head no, and began to do some push-ups on the ceiling. I quickly yanked him down by his hood, and he hit the floor with a thud. "Now, stop fooling around. We need to reach the roof before them." I stalked over to the open walls, and started to climb upward.

“Nooooooooooooooooooo” I whined, yelling out at him. He was obviously frustrated at me, “Brother, there are moreeeee. Let’s go back in to the hospital, okay? Besides, those two won’t be going anywhere for a little while.” I smirked to myself, looking at the blood on the cement ground before pouncing off in the direction we had come from.
Zoey
As i took the bag from him I saw blood dripping from his arm and panicked, grabbing hold of it. He had not felt the pain of the wound? How had he not noticed the woman claw him?
The drugs...
I crawled near him and began to bandage his wound slowly, my hands lingering on each ink imprint. It was quiet between us, just the breathing was filling my ears to the point I felt I was deaf. His deep chest rising and falling, the eyes I dare not look in. I broke the silence, not wanting to make the situation awkward. “We should wait for them. Sleep... get our strength up. Besides, I’m kind of worried about them.” I muttered quietly.

"Alright then..." I say calmly. I reach into my bag, and find a blanket. Handing it to her. "I'm going to stay up for a few. You get some sleep" She hesitated, looking at me with a ton of worry in her eyes. Eventually she nodded. Laying her head on my leg, she fell asleep.
Hunter Vici Of course! The other survivors!! Following Grey back into the dark hospital, I hoped we could find a meal soon. I was hungry.

It took me forever to fall asleep, hearing the evil sounds that lie beyond the safe doors of this room. Worrying about Paul and the girl... worrying about Francis... and myself. I felt odd for some reason, and I did not know why. Every so often I would steal a peek at him, my eyes opening barely enough that he would notice. He seemed stiff, worried as well. Something going through his mind as he starred at the wall. I shut my eyes once more, trying to find rest. I would need the strength, we all would.
Hunter Grey
I slid down the elevator shaft clinging to the walls, my nails grinding in the cement, my mouth wide with a grin. I wanted my brother to feed, I knew he was hungry. There was a meal to be had in this hospital surely. We reached the fourth floor and crawled through the vent out in to the hallway again, once more aware of the crying echoing in the hallways. The witch had fled down here. “I wonder where they are...” I smirked, turning to my brother, “Can you smell them?”

She kept peeking up at me. I couldn't help but notice her beautiful brown eyes when she did so. There was something about her that I couldn't shake off. She was worried about something. I placed my hand on her shoulder, and rubbed her back until she fell asleep.
Hunter Vici Taking a couple of small sniffs of the surrounding air, I found that I smelled 4 people. 3 New, and one familiar. The man from upstairs. His blood was here somewhere. Maybe the witch had actually gotten a hit in?
"I smell a few here somewhere" I whispered. This made my brother excited. A little... too excited. He started to jump up and down. Shaking his body, and giggling. "Hungry, are we?" I whisper with a grin.

I was less hungry, more excited for what lied ahead; the, thrill of the hunt perhaps? Anything to quench my boredom. “Let’s go.” I smiled and took off, following my brother. He knew where they were, but I was very excited to claw them from their hiding spot. “Brother... let’s tear them apart...”
Zoey
I fell asleep as he touched me gently, relaxing and succumbing to a world alike the one I was already in. A dream world, nothing but fantasy. Was this horror movie really reality? Or was it just another delusion I had during a particularly boring class? Could you dream in a dream? Was Francis a man I had made up just to compensate for something I did not have, nor eve would? It made me sad to wonder.

Zoey was tossing and turning in her sleep. It worried me. She began to mumble, and whine about something. She grasped my hand tight and pulled it close to her. I felt her snuggled against her. Looking down at her, I could see that she had begun to cry. Doing what I could do to calm her. I placed a gentle kiss on her lips. Maybe it would silence her, and/or calm her. It was the only thing I knew of that would. When she opened her eyes, I stared. Half expecting to get yelled at, the other half of me surprised she opened her eyes. For how disturbed her sleep was, her eyes looked calm. Inviting. I kissed her again, to let her know I was still here.

I've lost track of time. The clock on the wall is busted and my only guess is that we've been in this non-safe room for about three days. There's been an increase of sounds from the things that go bump in the night. They're becoming more vocal and that means they're probably becoming more active as well. "We should get moving." Paul's voice cuts through my zoning out and I see his gaze is nowhere in particular. I nod my head over to the stranger. "What about him? We can't just leave him here." "It might be possible to bring him with us but..." "But what?" "He'll slow us down." I'm about to say something in response when the loud screeches of hunters echo in the hall. There's also been the chilling sound of a woman crying. I look at the door then at Paul. "They'll find us won't they?" He nods. "More than likely." I look over at the young stranger, grab a bag of chips and what's left in my water bottle and cross the room. I crouch down a little bit away from him and nudge his foot. "Hey. Wake up." He slumbers. "I'mma zombie! ROAR!" He twitches so I nudge him again. "You've won two million. Er. Two hundred million dollars. Congratulations!" He mutters something and I lean closer. "If you don't wake up I'm going to ram this water bottle up your ass. Sideways." Two brown eyes snap open and are looking straight into mine. I almost fall over but his grip on my wrist is tight. It's beginning to ache a little and I don't know what to do.

"...bottle up your ass. Sideways." I open my eyes almost instantly, seeing the girl leaning towards me, instinctively grabbing her wrist, tightly. I feel her tremble slightly against me, her facial expression showing a hint of fear as I look into her eyes, whispering "Threaten me again, and it won't end well for you." I release her wrist, and move myself away from her, pressing my hand against the wall to help me stand up. I groan, seeing her stand up as well and move back towards the man in the corner, shifting my eyes towards the door as I hear screeches and what sounds like cries, sending chills down my back. I shove my hand deep into my pants pocket, finding the picture of her, the one I loved so dearly, glancing at it, feeling tears forming in my eyes. "Why?" I ask myself, missing her eyes, her smile, her beautiful hair, before gently putting the picture back in my pocket, using my other arm to wipe the tears away from my eyes. I glance back up at the two people near the door, and slightly moved towards them, stopping just a few feet as I shift my glance to the ground.
"I, um, I'm sorry for earlier. I thought that you two were, uh, one of them," I whisper quietly, scratching the back of my head before looking up at them, seeing both of them thinking in the horrible lighting of the room, whispering "I'm sorry," yet again. Screeching is once again heard from outside the door, seemingly getting closer, trying to control the panicking thoughts in my head, looking at the door and then back at them. "We can introduce each other later, what the hell do we do?"

Surprise, confusion and perhaps a little fear. This is all I feel at this moment. I'm grateful that this new stranger didn't see it beneficial to hurt me for my foolishness. But his words carry the promise of violence and unpleasantness if I ever try it again. He's up on his feet and now that he's conscious, he doesn't seem nearly as week. There's something I can't place about him. It's almost like he carries the ferocity of a cornered animal. Ready and willing to attack at any moment. His face turns away from us as he takes check of his belongings. I try not to notice him looking at a photograph, clearly missing whoever it may be. My gaze turns to Paul. His eyes are focused on the door. The stranger's apology is odd but somewhat calming. That is until the screeches begin again. We're all focused on the door now and what may be outside. "Hunters" I whisper the words. "They are close." Paul's grip on his revolver tightens slightly and it's almost as if he's seeing beyond the door and into that debris filled and decaying hallway. "Do you two have a plan or something?" The stranger's eyes have gone a little wide and I wonder how long he's been in this zombie hell. "We'll meet up with the others in the safe room. We just have to get to the elevator down the hall and follow the directions. And well, not die of course." I smirk a little and hand my pistol over to the newcomer. "Take it. You'll need more than that knife of yours." He hesitates and it almost seems as if he's about to say something. His hand takes the gun from me, getting used to it and he nods his head. After any belongings are gathered up, we move. Paul is in the lead with me right behind him. Our new "friend" is at my side. We inch out the door and peer out into the hallway. There are zombie corpses, possibly a path initially cleared from our comrades. Small groups of zombies and some stragglers roam the halls, droning and carrying on. It's not them I'm worried about. I feel eyes out there, watching us. If they're not here already then they will be soon.

Listening. Thats all I could do. There was no one save ourselves in the halls. The handful of undead were in the rooms, speaking in tongues and fighting amongst themselves. I almost felt pity for them, almost. Our footsteps echoed loudly than they should, adding to the tension. Kass and this new soul were following behind as we made our way through the labyrinth of crimson splashed hallways.
Something was watching us.
I couldn't shake that sense.
I stopped. The trail led to an elevator shaft. Without much thought I pressed the "DOWN" button only to be met with silence. Peering inside the shaft my eyes laid upon the rungs of an emergency ladder. "Looks like we're climbing." I said to them. I did not bother to turn and meet their faces. I started my way up. Someone said something but I could not hear them, continuing my ascent. I could hear the rhythmic clammering as they climbed after me. Minutes passed as I noticed we were nearly there.
That was when I heard her calling me.
